What Others Are Saying
Participants love Business Writing Solutions! Here are some of their enthusiastic comments we’ve received.
Southwest Airlines offered the program to its Executive Office writers (the ones who write all day, responding to executive level correspondence), its People Department, Ground Operations, Provisioning and Inflight, Marketing, Reservations, and Internal Audit Departments (with more to come). Colleen Barrett, the airline’s new president in the post-Herb Kelleher era (called “the most influential woman in the aviation industry” by Wall Street Journal) told me:
“Jonathan, we have a winner! Your course was a success…
I’m recommending it to my peers…I can’t thank you enough.”
Director of Global Foresight Analysis for a FORTUNE 50 financial services provider Guy Fraker, head of the company’s Enterprise Structure Study team, scheduled this program to help his team meet ever-changing (shrinking!) deadlines for their written reports to the company CEO. Several months later (after successful completion, on time), he reported:
“Jonathan Clark and his company, BUSINESS WRITING SOLUTIONS, exceeded all of our parameters. Personally, I have been using Jonathan’s methods for more than six months now and can state with confidence that his claim of removing 30% of the writing time is right on the mark. Of all the ‘time management’ techniques I have tried, none have freed up productive time like this writing course.”
“Brilliant! The seminar was fantastic! Nice job! I particularly enjoyed the grammar issues you covered and the tip to make writing more personal rather than super business-unfriendly. The clustering idea is great and it will help me focus ideas for longer documents like proposals and sales letters.” — website design company owner
“I asked another manager to review my report. She has been doing this for two years. She said it was better than anything I had previously written. It was clear, concise, entertaining and had punch. I was so pleased. Thank you for sharing your techniques.” — accounts manager, security system service
“What business or business person could not benefit from this? Your seminar was full to the brim with information! It has been literally years since I thought about sentence structure. I should have taken this course as Business 101 20 years ago. This seminar will pay true dividends in my career. Thanks!” — realtor, multi-million dollar sales producer
“You did an excellent job! I am noticing the difference in the way I write memos and letters. They are much crisper and cleaner.” — administrative assistant to hospital CEO

From Wallace Resources, Small Business Marketing Specialists:
Dear Jonathan:
I attended your January 20th and 21st seminar on writing and grammar in Mesa, AZ. I must admit I was initially surprised that it was fun. Everybody says their seminar will be enjoyable, but few deliver. Yours did.
In two days you gave us the core of a college semester worth of information focused toward business applications. It was obvious you wrote the seminar content. You know your stuff.
The two most valuable aspects of the seminar for me were clustering and the printed materials we received. I use clustering at least once a day and am saving time and stress in my writing process as a result. I purchased a small white board
specifically for clustering, and also use the technique to better illustrate my ideas verbally. I keep your booklet next to my monitor opened to the Rules of Punctuation section-a tremendous tool. From an ex serial comma abuser and master of the excruciatingly long and complex sentence, I thank
you. You will save me tons of time and stress in my writing this year and help me get to “yes” more often in my proposals. Now, if you could just give me absolution for 25 years of grammatical sins…

From Candyce Mackin, Office Manager to her out-of-town boss:
Dear Michael:
I know this isn’t the standard trip report you are used to receiving; however, I am practicing my new techniques so please bear with me.
The class was fast paced and the instructor dynamic. It was everything I anticipated. It will take practice to achieve the level of expertise I would like, but I feel much more confident using the techniques I learned. I also received a wonderful desktop reference book I believe may become my new best friend.
The seminar showed me how to implement the following steps for fast, friendly and fun business writing:
- Preparation and tools
- Idea generation and Clustering
- Organization
- Freewriting
- Editing and Proofreading
These steps provide a quick, foolproof formula for writing that anyone can use. It also leaves plenty of room to be creative and personalize your letters.
The class also covered these subjects:
- Specific types of letters and formats
- Techniques to strengthen your writing
- Grammar and usage
- Spelling and punctuation
One of my goals was to learn to expedite my letter writing. This letter, which previously would have taken me an hour to write, took 10 minutes, and I am pleased with the results.
What do you think?
Sincerely,
Candyce Mackin
